20° Dual Alpinist Couple's Mummy Bag

The Dual Alpinist is based upon our classic center zipper mummy bag, the Alpinist.  With a snug, yet fully adjustable hood and convenient center zipper access this bag combines warmth with utility in a lightweight package.

Design

In the standard configuration the top of the bag is rated to a temperature of 20°, while the underside is 40°. This makes sense as it is unlikely the lower half is going anywhere but staying down, as opposed to the tossing and turning a single person mummy bag is subjected to.

For those wishing a full 20° top and bottom, this is also an option. 

The drawcord controlled head opening can be left fully open and act as pillow during warmer conditions, then snugged down with the heads inside when needed. A removable center cinch can be applied to further increase the thermal efficiency, and help in sealing out the last draft.

With the 48" long center zipper left open, each person can control the amount of coverage they need, by tossing the cover back or tucking in on an individual side-by-side basis.

Additional ventilation is available via the convertible footbox. This open/closed mode is achieved with a drawcord and a conveniently located cord lock controller. A down filled plug helps seal things up when the foot end is closed.

The loft is 2.5" of baffled construction, generously filled with the highest quality 900FP down. 

The Dual Alpinist can also be sewn with a 2" transverse differential cut. This option creates a liner slightly smaller than the shell, aiding in maintaining loft.

We offer a variety of shell and liner fabrics enabling you to customize the bag. This is an overview of the choices.

Sizing

The standard finished width of 58" has proven adequate for most couples, and strikes a neat balance of comfort against excessive weight and bulk. Wider builds are available for folks needing additional sprawling room, in a cabin or car camping situation.

Down Overfill

Additional down (overfill) is also available. Why this? The way campers respond to cold varies from person to person. Our 20° rating will feel adequate to most, too warm to some and not warm enough for a few. If you know you sleep cold, or are concerned about environmental influx specific to your use, consider adding down.

Weight

A typical long length, standard width Dual Alpinist will come in at 45 ounces choosing the lightest fabrics.
