This
concept provides the frequently requested link between our
quilts and a regular mummy type bag.
The Catabatic is a regular
hood less sleeping bag, with the underside insulation replaced
by a single ultralight layer of fabric. This accomplishes
a number of things. First bulk and weight is greatly reduced,
always a quest in our designs.
Furthermore, the need for
a zipper as a mean of ventilation is eliminated: To cool off,
one simply rotates the bag to expose portions of the permeable
bottom fabric. Without the zipper we again shave off several
ounces, and reduce the risk of mechanical failure.
We now build this in an
Down Overbag Configuration, increasing girth to 50" at
the footbox that adds only a few grams.
The Catabatic is also available
with standard mummy style hood and more down, making the Catabatic
SL
a 20 degree bag.
