A simple warm weather quilt with few features
Underside opening with parallel sides making draft control more or less built in. This is achieved by sewing the quilt body into a mummy shape instead of attempting to wrap a two dimensional blanket type around the user
Two overall shape options: No inward taper until hip level; or adapted mummy contours. See diagram on menu below
Horizontal baffles. With our ‘dense pack’* approach the down stays put for longer and a continuous baffle run allow underside down to be moved up and around.
*eschewing theoretical values and calculated percentages we instead use feel and real life experience. The fill amount for a given chamber is high to the point where the down doesn't 'fully' loft - this buffer is what you want out there for sure
Width is the most important spec to get right. The Nano Quilt makes this easier with six real life options: 50" - 53” - 56” - 59” - 62” and the big guy: 68”. Most will be happy with the 56" width. Skinny folks, expert users and weigh weenies can go narrower. The restless, the big, and the dog co-sleepers can size up
The 70" length is fine up to 5'11". Snugglers and ear warmers can go up a level if in doubt
As always a permanently closed foot box with a sewn-in round end piece for superior warmth; no zipper, drawcords or socks stuffed in leaky holes. 40" is good up to size 12 for mostly side sleepers. Back sleepers need to size up to 44 around size 11 feet
Perfect inside a synthetic over-bag, aka the Alfabatik, for gnar conditions
74" x 56" x 40" : Fill weight 208g - Total weight 375g
Nano Bag zipper-less bag vs Nano Quilt:
The obv difference is the open bottom on the quilt, while otherwise they share the same shape and contoured cut
Despite the 45°F rating neither the bag nor the quilt are specifically designed for hot climates. With the efficiency features and advanced shape I intended them to be part of sleep system assembled to push the limit in the summer mountains or spring/fall deserts of the western US
Comparing the two shows weight savings to be about an ounce for the quilt. A person needing the 59" wide Nano Bag would choose the 56" or 53" Nano Quilt
The chart specs will be developed in February
The Nano Quilt is zipper-less
